After introducing the Vivo Y400 4G last week, Vivo has now announced the Y400 5G with a similar design but notable hardware improvements, including 5G support, a Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 processor, a 32MP selfie camera, and 90W fast charging.
Design and Display
The Vivo Y400 5G features a 6.67‑inch AMOLED display with a Full HD+ (2400×1080) resolution and a 120 Hz refresh rate. The screen reaches 1,800 nits peak brightness, allowing for reliable visibility outdoors. The device measures 7.9 mm thick, weighs approximately 198 g, and carries IP68 and IP69 ratings for water and dust resistance, along with MIL‑STD‑810H durability for shock protection, making it a highly durable phone with solid waterproofing and protection against shock damage.
The Vivo Y400 5G is available in Glam White and Olive Green.
Internals and Software
The smartphone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset, paired with 8 GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128 GB or 256 GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The Y400 5G runs Funtouch OS 15 based on Android 15, featuring built‑in system optimizations and AI‑driven utilities like Note Assist, Document Capture, and Smart Connectivity.
Cameras
The rear camera setup includes a 50 MP primary sensor and a 2 MP depth sensor for portrait effects. The camera supports night mode, portrait mode, macro shots, and 1080p video recording. On the front, a 32 MP selfie camera handles photos and video calls with features like dual‑view mode and AI‑assisted image enhancement.
Battery and Pricing
Unlike the 4G variant, which uses a Silicon-Carbon battery, the 5G model relies on a lithium-ion (Li-Ion) battery. The device packs a 6,000 mAh battery supported by 90W fast charging for rapid recharging. The 8GB/128GB model is priced at $250, while the 8GB/256GB version costs $273.
