Spotify has announced a price increase for its Premium subscription plans in multiple regions across the globe, including South Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Europe, Latin America, and Asia-Pacific. The company will notify affected users by email, and the new prices will appear in upcoming billing cycles.

Details of the Price Increase

The Premium Individual plan in several European markets, such as Spain, Italy, and Portugal, has already increased by €1, bringing the monthly cost to $13.90. Current subscribers in these regions will see the adjustment on their next billing.

Since the price increase is happening on such a large scale, there is a high chance that it will hit Pakistan as well, though it should only be a small bump.

Spotify has not released a complete list of countries affected, but confirmed that this round of price adjustments does not include the US and Canada, where Premium already costs $11.99 per month.

Spotify stated that the decision to raise prices is tied to the company’s rising operational and licensing costs, as well as the need to invest in platform improvements and content offerings. The company continues to face higher royalties for music licensing and growing expenses related to maintaining its global infrastructure.

Earnings Guidance Missed by $100 Million

The price increase follows Spotify’s Q2 2025 earnings report, where the platform reported 276 million Premium subscribers but missed its earnings guidance by $100 million. Despite the revenue shortfall, the company noted significant year-over-year growth in paid memberships.

News of the price adjustment caused Spotify’s stock to rise by about 5%, as analysts expect the move to improve the company’s average revenue per user and narrow its profitability gap.

The Premium Duo, Family, and Student plans remain at their current rates for now, but it is unclear whether these tiers will be affected in the future.
