Netflix’s One Piece live-action broke records and the anime-adaptation curse, instantly becoming a blockbuster upon its initial release in 2023. American anime adaptations have often failed, with titles like Devilman Crybaby and Dragon Ball Evolution criticized for dry storylines, bland acting, lackluster CGI, etc. However, Eiichiro Oda’s manga seemingly escaped such tragedy, taking over the world. Now, with season 2’s first look just unleashed into the fandom, the Straw Hats are bathing in the magma of praise and excitement as anticipation for the next season erupts.
Taking to X, fans are clamoring for more as the season 2’s first look shared by Netflix has them in a chokehold. Expressing their admiration towards the cast, one fan celebrated how the production did, “amazing with this casting.” Meanwhile, in keeping with the tradition of sensational One Piece memes, one fan applauded with a pun, commenting, “Berry nice,” berry being the fictional currency in the lore. Though everyone seems to be celebrating the stunning first look, their patience barrier is breaking. They cannot wait any longer and are pleading and cutely threatening Netflix to release the second season already.

Netflix has gathered the Straw Hats in a gob-smacking poster for season 2 that’s making millions of fans go feral. Luffy, Zoro, Nami, Sanji, and Usopp’s upcoming adventures hint at another blockbuster. Much of One Piece‘s success could be attributed to strong performances from the cast, great special effects, and the script’s faithfulness to the source material. A plus for Netflix is that viewers do not need to be anime or manga fans. Arriving in 2026, season 2 adapts Loguetown, Reverse Mountain, Whiskey Peak, Little Garden, and Drum Island.
With its first teasing look, fans are pleased to revisit the colorful and campy aesthetics of the show and their beloved characters, matching the source as closely as possible.
One Piece fans glance over Season 2 first look: Excitement, explosion, and caution
Excited One Piece fans are at large on the internet, screaming praises at the poster, happy to see their favorite characters together in a long time, though some sarcastically said they forgot the show existed. However, the primary question was why Choppa, i.e., Tony Tony Chopper, slated to be the newest mystery on deck, did not make an appearance.
While it is nearly impossible and boring to lay out 40-50 episodes to do justice to the source, this series successfully combined a comprehensive narrative in just eight episodes in the first season. However, one fan questioned the adaptation’s attempt to include as many anime arcs as possible. Then there are the hard-to-please critics to whom the show does not even compare to the anime.

Netflix’s One Piece has broken the pop-cultural barrier between the starkly different Western and Eastern audiences. Even plenty of orthodox Western viewers who prefer dark, realistic live-action adaptations and are used to lackadaisical or stoic heroes found this series wholesome and compelling. In a world of mediocre live-action adaptations of anime, this series satisfied viewers beyond the fandom. With its incredible track record, season 2 seems to be worth all the wait.
