Nintendo reported that the Switch 2 sold 5.82 million units in less than four weeks, according to its latest earnings report. The console is projected to reach 15 million units by April 2026, a pace faster than the original Switch, which needed a full year to hit the same milestone.

Despite the strong launch, demand is outstripping supply in multiple regions. Nintendo said it plans to increase production to meet customer demand. The company noted that by July 25, total sales had surpassed 6 million units, although sales slowed in July despite continued interest.

Game Sales

Game sales were also robust, reaching 8.67 million units for the Switch 2. Key contributors included the Mario Kart World bundle, Donkey Kong Bananza, and several third-party titles. Nintendo also sold 24.4 million games for the original Switch, aided by the Switch 2’s backward compatibility.

The strong hardware and software performance helped Nintendo more than double its quarterly revenue to $3.8 billion, with profits rising to $378 million. The company maintained its forecast of $12.6 billion in revenue for the fiscal year.
