Nintendo has confirmed that it’s raising the price of the original Switch and other Nintendo products in the US. Switch 2 pricing, however, will remain unchanged–at least for now.
Beginning August 3, the price of the Switch will go up “based on market conditions.” The regular Switch, Switch OLED, Switch Lite, and “select” accessories will get unspecified price increases. Game prices, for physical and digital titles, will not change.
As for the Switch 2, Nintendo said pricing for the system, along with physical and digital games and Nintendo Switch Online memberships, will not go up in price, at least not yet. Nintendo said, “Please note that price adjustments may be necessary in the future.”
While the price of Switch 2 consoles is not going up, Nintendo said “certain” Switch 2 accessories will see price increases, but it didn’t specify which products. Nintendo also said “select” Amiibo and the Alarmo clock will get more expensive.
Nintendo did not elaborate as to what “market conditions” it was referring to with regards to the price changes, but it’s likely related to the ongoing tariff saga.
