Dempsey Roscoe Poor, 73, passed away suddenly at home July 27, 2025 after a 2-year battle with Lung Cancer. He tried to keep his battle with lung cancer quiet in the beginning so there may be some who did not realize he was dealing with this. He lived life to the fullest and is in the hands of Our Lord, cough free and free of all the scans he had to deal with. He was loved by so many and will be missed.
Preceded in death by his parents: Roscoe and Ivy Poor, sisters Helen Loyd and Iveen Perse; brother Leodis Poor.
Dempsey is survived by his wife, Susan Poor; daughter and son-in-law Misty Hyndman and Chris Hyndman of Mountainburg, AR; granddaughter, Lindsey Dickey and husband Jalen Dickey; great-grandsons Jansen and Callum Dickey all of Garfield, AR; sisters, Rita Findley of Hinton, OK, LeDoris Monigold of Mena, AR; brothers, Manuel Poor and wife Ronda of Summerfield, OK, Elvis Poor of Cameron, OK, and Presley Poor of Mena, AR.; numerous nieces and nephews; cousins and many friends. Lastly the Special Friends that were more than friends, they were family, Chip and Denise, Jack and Denise, Dwayne and Angie, Don and Deb, and his best friend who was like a brother, cousin Mike Poor.
There will be no services scheduled per Dempsey’s request. Cremation is under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Alma.
