Eve and Mr. Handsome Selfie is a photograph of actress Sara Sampaio, who plays Eve Teschmacher in the 2025 Superman movie, taking a selfie with the Mr. Handsome stand-in puppet. The photograph was posted by Superman director James Gunn on July 29th, 2025 and quickly became the subject of memes, including a viral version of the “me and the baddie I pulled” meme and several object labeling memes.
Origin
On July 29th, 2025, director James Gunn made a post on X sharing several behind the scenes photos from the set of Superman related to the character Mr. Handsome. In the post, Gunn talks about how Mr. Handsome is his favorite character in the movie, reading:
When people ask me my favorite character from Superman it just might be Mr. Handsome. Lex created Mr. Handsome in a Petri dish when he was 12 – he was trying to make a human. He didn’t come out so well, but he just might be the only one in the world Lex has any true sentiment for, as evidenced by the photo on his desk. Our Mr. Handsome was portrayed by the wonderful Trevor Newlin.

The image started to inspire memes the day it was posted. On July 29th, 2025, X user @CBMovieFan posted the photo, writing, “me and the baddie i pulled by being silly,” garnering over 36,000 likes and 1,900 reposts in a day. Shortly after, Redditor u/heisenberg2445 posted the image to the /r/DC_Cinematic subreddit captioned, “Me and the chick i pulled by being autistic:,” garnering over 1,700 upvotes in a day.
Later that day, Redditor u/Beached-Peach posted the photo to the /r/BooksThatFeelLikeThis subreddit, along with other photos of creatures and animals casually posing with women, titled, “Books that feel like this?” garnering over 420 upvotes in a day.
On the same day, Redditor u/gammalantern posted a meme to the /r/dankmemes subreddit labeling Mr. Handsome “average rich guy” and Sara “Hot girlfriend who ‘likes him for his personality,'” garnering over 5,900 upvotes in a day. On July 30th, Instagram user moviesethumor reposted the image, writing, “When the crew and cast take a photo at wrap,” garnering over 3,500 likes in under 12 hours.
