Fans of Cristiano Ronaldo can no longer buy Manchester United shirts with his name on them from the club’s official Megastore.

Earlier this month, Manchester United revealed their new home and away kits for the 2025–26 season, and many supporters rushed to buy them. But some fans were surprised to see a message at the Megastore that read:

“Due to licensing restrictions, we are unable to print Cantona, Beckham, and Ronaldo.”

Fans of Cristiano Ronaldo can no longer buy Manchester United shirts with his name on them from the club’s official Megastore.

According to The Sun, Manchester United later confirmed that the rule is in place because Eric Cantona, David Beckham, and Cristiano Ronaldo own the rights to their names and images. This means the club is not allowed to print their names on shirts.

One fan posted on social media:

“Took my son for his new shirt the other day. Had no idea the club weren’t allowed to print Cantona, Beckham or Ronaldo on shirts.”

Only Current Players and Fonts Allowed

The club also explained that fans can only print names using the current season’s kit and font. Printing names with older designs or fonts from past seasons is not allowed.

Ronaldo’s Legacy at Manchester United

Cristiano Ronaldo is one of Manchester United’s most loved players. During his first spell at the club, he won three Premier League titles, the Champions League in 2008, and the Ballon d’Or the same year. Although he left the club in 2009, Ronaldo’s shirts are still popular with fans all around the world.

What’s Next for United?

Manchester United, now managed by Ruben Amorim, are currently on their pre-season tour in the United States. Their next match is a friendly against Bournemouth in Chicago on Thursday.
