Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7 went through JerryRigEverything’s traditional durability test, which includes scratch, burn, and bend tests. The new Fold managed to make it through the trial, though the screen is still the usual soft plastic, even scratchable through fingernails.
Scratch Test
The cover screen, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, began to show scratches at level 6 on the Mohs hardness scale, with deeper marks forming at level 7. The inner foldable display, made from Ultra-Thin Glass (UTG) with a protective plastic layer, showed scratches at level 2, confirming that the panel is still plastic.
The aluminum frame and Armor FlexHinge resisted knife scratches and pressure without immediate damage. The hinge also worked normally after the tests.

Dust Proofing
With an IP48 rating, the Fold 7 provides some protection against dust and small particles, which can help limit damage from debris during everyday use. This was also tested in the video, with an excess of dirt and debris being smothered all over the phone while it continued to fold and unfold. The phone still managed to work normally even without any creaking or grinding noises
In the heat test, the outer screen resisted damage for several seconds before showing minor pixel distortion. The inner display reacted more quickly, leaving permanent marks when exposed to a lighter flame, which is typical for foldable plastic-covered panels.
Bend Test
During the bend test, the phone displayed noticeable flex when bent the wrong way, but remained fully intact afterward, without any creaks or permanent flexing. The hinge and frame endured the pressure without breaking, indicating improved structural design compared to earlier foldable models.
