Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has shared good news for the people of the province by announcing the launch of Punjab’s first electric bus service. This step aims to make public transport better, safer, and more eco-friendly, especially in districts where good transport options were missing for years.

According to officials, a total of 1,100 air-conditioned electric buses are being built in China for Punjab. Out of these, the first batch of 240 buses will reach Pakistan on August 22. Once the buses start running, people will be able to travel comfortably at a very low fare of just Rs. 20.

These new buses are not only air-conditioned but will also have CCTV cameras for security and wheelchair ramps to help people with disabilities. This will make traveling safe and easy for everyone, including the elderly and those who need extra help getting on and off the bus.

One of the main goals of this project is to cut down air pollution in Punjab’s cities and towns by offering an environment-friendly alternative to petrol and diesel vehicles. The buses will also connect areas that did not have good public transport before, making daily travel easier for thousands of people who depend on buses to get to work, school, or markets.

With this electric bus fleet, the Punjab government wants to show its commitment to modern, clean, and affordable transport for everyone. Many people hope this move will set an example for other provinces too, bringing cleaner air and better public transport to more cities across Pakistan.
