State, local, and Owens Corning officials gathered Tuesday (Oct. 14) in Russellville for the grand opening of the company’s new Foamular NGX manufacturing plant in the Pope County city.

Announced in February 2023, construction of the 150,000-square-foot facility with new technology was completed in August and will be fully operational by year-end. The facility has created more than 50 new jobs. The capacity will meet the growing demand for Foamular insulation, which is sold in the non-residential and residential markets.

“Expanding Owens Corning’s Foamular NGX insulation production with this new facility will advance our ability to create sustainable solutions in the building materials industry and better serve the growing needs of our customers,” Rodney Wideman, vice president and general manager of Foam Insulation at Owens Corning, said in a statement. “We are proud to be a part of the Russellville community and look forward to growing together.”

Toledo, Ohio-based Owens Corning said in early 2023 that the plant would cost around $60 million to build. The Russellville plant is Owens Corning’s second plant in Arkansas. The company has operated in Fort Smith, Ark., since 1985 and expanded the facility twice since 2021.

“The grand opening of our new Foamular® NGX™ manufacturing plant in Russellville marks a significant milestone in Owens Corning’s journey to deliver sustainable building solutions,” said Jose Canovas, president of Insulation at Owens Corning. “This facility reflects our commitment to our customers’ growth, innovation, and the vibrant Russellville community. We’re proud to invest in Arkansas, create new jobs, and grow alongside our customers with high-performance insulation.”
