YouTuber[1] and streamer Marlon made a lot of internet users cringe[2] the other day when he dropped a since-deleted video about “fooling the internet” on his channel.
A series of memes[3] and internet jokes have surfaced in the aftermath, which all attest, “Marlon Fooled the Internet[4]” as a way to ironically champion the influencer’s[5] statement.

What’s The Original ‘Marlon Fooled The Internet’ Video?
Last week, YouTuber Marlon posted a video that he later deleted. It was about nine minutes long and it started with him taking a seat, leaning towards the camera and going on about a his then-recent hiatus from posting.
At the end of September, Marlon was apparently laying the framework for a publicity stunt. It started with him getting frustrated on a Twitch[8] stream and saying, “You won’t see me for a very long time[9].” Marlon then ghosted his socials, hoping that internet users would miss him and hope he hadn’t quit for good.
The video that was posted on his YouTube last week was supposed to end the hiatus. He said in it, “Seven days, not a word, not a video, not a clip, not a post, nothing… I wanted to test the internet… Let me tell y’all how in seven days I fooled the internet completely.”
However, Marlon quickly found out that a lot of people didn’t even realize that he was gone. He quickly deleted the video but not before some Twitter / X[10] users downloaded it and reposted[11] it.

Who Is ‘Marlon?’
Marlon Lundgren Garcia (Marlon for short) is a Twitch streamer, YouTuber and general influencer, who prominently rose to fame this year. He boasts over 681,000 subscribers on his YouTube channel[14] and over 1.3 million followers on his Twitch account[15].
He’s also a model. He walked at Paris Fashion Week[16] this year and he plans to do it again.
Marlon has basically gained a following for his streaming antics and his good looks. For one, many on TikTok are quick to share “looksmaxxing[17]” edits that focus on him.

Where Did The ‘Marlon Fooled The Internet’ Memes Come From?
Clips of Marlon’s deleted “I fooled the internet” video surfaced on TikTok in the following days. Users on there, who were accustomed to seeing him “aura farm[25],” were shocked to see him lose “aura points[26]” with the clip.
Creators like Vexbolts[27] were quick to hop onto the trend, which was all about satirically hyping up Marlon’s half-baked publicity stunt. Video skits portrayed characters who were Marlon’s premiere fanboys, ready to glaze[28] him for anything.
