PTCL Group has announced a scheduled maintenance activity on one of its international submarine cables, set to begin on October 14, 2025, at 11 AM (PST). The operation, aimed at repairing a faulty repeater, may cause temporary internet service degradation for customers across Pakistan.

Submarine cables are the backbone of Pakistan’s global internet connectivity, managed in collaboration with international cable consortiums. Any maintenance or fault repair in these systems can temporarily affect network performance nationwide.

According to the PTCL spokesperson, the maintenance work could last up to 18 hours, during which users may experience slower browsing speeds or connectivity disruptions. The company assured that backup bandwidth arrangements have been made to minimize the impact.

A PTCL spokesperson stated,

“This maintenance is essential to ensure long-term network reliability and high-speed connectivity for our customers. We regret the inconvenience and appreciate users’ patience.”

If the operation proceeds smoothly, full connectivity is expected to be restored by the evening of October 15, 2025.
