Fans of the Avatar series will soon get to see Aang and Korra battle it out in Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game, which is set for release in summer 2026. The title was announced at New York Comic Con by developer Gameplay Group International, which also shared an early trailer showing pre-alpha footage.

The game takes inspiration from classic fighters like Street Fighter but features characters from both Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra. A short teaser released during the event showcased pre-alpha gameplay footage, offering fans an early glimpse of the combat system and character animations.

According to the game’s Steam listing[1], Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game will debut with 12 playable characters, with additional fighters arriving through seasonal updates. The developer has introduced a “flow system” designed to make battles feel more dynamic, along with support characters who can help perform special attacks. The studio said the game aims to capture the “energy of classic fighting games” while emphasizing fluidity, precision, and online stability.

Players can expect standard fighting game features, including combo trials, a gallery mode, and crossplay support across platforms. The game will be available on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X and S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam.

For those less interested in competitive play, the title will include an original single-player campaign, featuring new story content within the Avatar universe. Fans can also look forward to Paramount’s upcoming AAA RPG based on the franchise, although no release date has been confirmed for that project.
