Apple has officially discontinued its Clips app, removing it from the App Store and announcing that it will no longer receive updates. The company confirmed the decision through a support page on its website, stating that as of October 10, new users can no longer download the Clips app. However, existing users can continue using it on current or earlier versions of iOS and iPadOS.

According to Apple, users who already have the app can re-download it from their Apple account if necessary. The company also advised users to save their videos from the Clips app to their photo library to ensure continued access and editing through other applications. Without future updates, Apple noted that the app’s functionality may decline over time.

Technology outlet MacRumors reported that while Apple initially introduced new features for the Clips app after its 2017 launch, recent updates were mostly limited to bug fixes. The app once included creative tools such as Memoji and Animoji integration, LiDAR Scanner support for augmented reality spaces, and several filters and graphics options.

The news received mixed reactions online, with several Apple users on Reddit expressing little surprise. Many commented that they had only used the app years ago or had never heard of it. Once a tool designed to make short, shareable videos, the Clips app gradually lost prominence as Apple shifted its focus toward other creative and video editing platforms.
