Greenbrier-based Knox Title[1] announced Wednesday (Oct. 8) that president and CEO BJ Fast will step down after more than 20 years of leadership as the title company looks to its next growth phase.
Brent Scheer will replace Fast, whose office is in Bentonville. Scheer’s office will be in Little Rock. He starts Dec. 1.
Knox Title operates six title brands from more than 45 offices across nine states. The company has more than 265 employees. One of the brands, Lenders Title Co., has 13 offices across Arkansas. The other brands include American Abstract Title Co., Nu World Title Co., Preservation Title Co., Precision Title Co. and United Title of Louisiana.
Fast is stepping down “to pursue personal goals,” according to a news release. He will serve as an adviser during the transition. He joined Lenders Title Co. in 2005. He was promoted to executive vice president of operations in 2008 and named CEO in 2015.
“Leading Knox Title has been the honor of my career,” Fast said. “I’m proud of how far we’ve come and confident Brent and the team will continue to drive growth and serve clients with excellence.”
Scheer has worked in the title insurance industry for nearly 20 years, including in senior roles expanding operations, finance, and mergers and acquisitions. He has the industry knowledge and leadership experience “to guide Knox Title into its next phase of growth,” the release shows.
“I’m honored to lead this exceptional team and build upon BJ’s incredible legacy,” Scheer said. “As we look to the future, our focus will be on leveraging technology, expanding our footprint and continuing to deliver the tailored title solutions our clients rely on.”
Along with the CEO transition, Knox Title promoted Bart Shaw of Conway to executive vice president and Keith Solomon of Franklin, Tenn., to general counsel and executive vice president, in addition to his ongoing role as Tennessee state operations manager. Also, the title of executive vice president has been added to the chief financial officer and all state operations managers.
“With this dynamic leadership team at the helm, Knox Title is positioned to accelerate growth and redefine what leadership looks like in the title industry,” said Alex Gregor, founder of Knox Capital, a lead investor in the company.
Matt Dement, managing director of Stephens Capital Partners, another investor, said, “The company’s commitment to its associates, culture of innovation and forward-thinking strategy create a strong foundation for the future.”
