The Punjab government has mobilized anti-smog squads across Lahore Division, including Lahore, Kasur, Sheikhupura, and Nankana Sahib, to crack down on pollution-causing activities and control smog during the critical autumn period.
The decision was finalized in a high-level meeting chaired by Lahore Commissioner Maryam Khan, attended by deputy commissioners and senior officials. She instructed district administrations to enforce Section 144 against crop residue burning, especially near motorways and populated areas, and warned that burning garbage, tyres, or using substandard fuel will not be tolerated.
Commissioner Khan emphasized strict monitoring, saying,
“All districts must maintain zero tolerance toward activities that aggravate smog. Public health and environmental safety remain top priorities.”
The meeting also reviewed other initiatives, including finalizing e-bus station points in Lahore and ongoing flood damage surveys. Officials confirmed there is no shortage of wheat or flour in the division, while dengue surveillance has been intensified with 100% larva checks directed across all districts.
