Former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard could be on his way back to Rangers, as the Scottish club searches for a new manager.

Rangers recently sacked head coach Russell Martin after a poor run of results. His time in charge lasted only 17 games, with his final match ending in a 1-1 draw against Falkirk.

That result leaves Rangers in 8th place in the Scottish Premiership, with just 8 points from their first 7 matches.

According to Goal, the club may now turn to Gerrard in hopes of turning things around.

Gerrard began his managerial career at Rangers in 2018 and led the team to the league title in the 2020/21 season – their first since 2011.

He left the club in 2021 to manage Aston Villa, and most recently coached Saudi side Al-Ettifaq before leaving in January. He is currently available and could make a return to Ibrox soon.
