Meta has officially rolled out the Instagram Map feature in Pakistan, introducing a new, interactive way for users to explore local content, events, and locations directly from their app. The feature appears at the top of the Direct Message (DM) inbox, enabling seamless access to nearby stories, reels, posts, and notes tagged with locations.
The update allows users to share their current or recent locations with selected friends, close friends, or no one, ensuring that privacy remains a top priority. Meta confirmed that location sharing is off by default, and users receive visible reminders when it’s active. A clear indicator now shows when sharing is enabled, ensuring transparency.
Adding to safety measures, parents supervising teens on Instagram can review and manage their children’s sharing settings through built-in supervision tools.
In refining Instagram Map, Meta has also removed profile photos from map content and introduced clearer indicators when location is off. The company says these enhancements aim to create a safer, more engaging social discovery experience for Pakistani users.
“This feature helps users explore real-time local culture and connect through shared experiences all while maintaining control over their privacy,” Meta’s regional spokesperson noted.
