Amazon has expanded its Kindle Scribe lineup with two new devices the next-generation Kindle Scribe and the Kindle Scribe Colorsoft. Both models bring upgrades in design, display technology, and software features, as the company looks to strengthen its e-reader portfolio.
Design and Display
The new Kindle Scribe has been slimmed down to just 5.4mm and weighs 400 grams. It features an 11-inch matte e-ink display with miniaturized LEDs built into the bezel. A textured glass layer has been added to replicate the feel of writing on paper, while a redesigned display stack reduces parallax, allowing the stylus to write directly on the screen with minimal lag.
The Kindle Scribe Colorsoft introduces a color display with a dedicated filter and nitrite LEDs that soften the hues for a less harsh look compared to traditional LCDs. Amazon says the device maintains weeks of battery life despite the addition of color functionality.
Performance and Features
Both devices are powered by a new quad-core processor with increased memory, paired with Amazon’s latest Oxide display technology for smoother performance.
On the software side, users will see an updated Home screen that provides quick access to books, notes, and documents. A new Quick Notes feature allows for instant jotting, while cloud integration with Google[1] Drive and Microsoft OneDrive makes document management easier.
Amazon is also introducing AI-powered search to help locate notes more efficiently. In 2026, an update will allow users to send documents to Alexa+ and engage in voice-based interactions about their content.
The Kindle Scribe lineup now includes expanded pen and highlight options with 10 pen colors and 5 highlighter shades. A new shader tool has also been added for shading. Notes can be exported as text or embedded images to Microsoft OneNote, while documents, books, and notebooks can now be organized within unified folders.
