Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have agreed to enhance cooperation on rail modernisation and regional connectivity, according to the Press Information Department (PID).

The UAE is among Pakistan’s closest partners, maintaining strong diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties. It remains one of Pakistan’s top trading partners in the Middle East and a vital source of remittances, with a large Pakistani community working across the Emirates.

As per the PID statement, Minister of State for Finance and Railways Bilal Azhar Kayani met with UAE Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei in Abu Dhabi. The discussion focused on opportunities to upgrade Pakistan’s rail network to improve trade, strengthen connectivity, and support sustainable economic growth.

Both sides reaffirmed the “brotherly relationship” between Pakistan and the UAE and underlined their shared commitment to promoting mutual prosperity. The ministers also emphasized the importance of environmentally sustainable transport solutions for the region.

The meeting took place during the Global Rail Infrastructure Conference and Exhibition, held from September 30 to October 2, which brought together ministers, policymakers, and global industry leaders to shape the future of rail and infrastructure development.
