The e-challan system in Karachi has officially been rolled out, marking a major step toward modernizing traffic enforcement in the city. With its launch, traditional checkpoints have been dismantled, and challan machines have been withdrawn from traffic sections.

Under the newly introduced e-challan system in Karachi, traffic police officers will no longer stop vehicles to issue fines on the spot. Instead, violations will be tracked using CCTV cameras installed across the city. Based on photographic or video evidence, challans will be sent directly to vehicle owners, ensuring transparency and accountability.

Officials explained that the system is designed to create fairness and efficiency in traffic law enforcement. Police officers will now focus primarily on maintaining smooth traffic flow. They will only intervene to remove cars blocking the roads, while the previous practice of lifting motorcycles has been abolished.

The move was implemented on the directives of Inspector General Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon. DIG Traffic has also ordered the system to be enforced across the city, describing it as a critical step toward digitizing Karachi’s traffic monitoring and improving compliance with traffic rules.
