The Ministry of Industries and Production, through the Engineering Development Board (EDB), has introduced Pakistan’s first Accelerated Vehicle Electrification (PAVE) Scheme e-balloting. The initiative aims to distribute subsidized electric two- and three-wheelers across Pakistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

Federal Secretary for Industries and Production Saif Anjum inaugurated the e-balloting. He called the scheme a decisive step toward affordable clean mobility, reduced oil imports, green industry, and sustainable job creation. “Today marks the start of Pakistan’s green transport revolution,” he said.

The digital balloting was held on the PAVE Online Portal under a monitoring committee. Officials confirmed the process ensured transparency and fairness for all applicants.

In total, 269,161 applications were received. Out of these, 40,000 applicants qualified in the draw. The government allocated 40,000 electric two-wheelers and 1,000 electric three-wheelers in this first round. Applicants can check results on the portal using their CNIC or application ID.

Following the draw, subsidy disbursement, financial support, and vehicle handover will begin. Automakers will handle delivery, warranty coverage, and after-sales service for all vehicles.

Under the PAVE Scheme, subsidies are significant. Two-wheelers qualify for Rs 50,000 with bank leasing and Rs 80,000 on self-finance. Three-wheelers qualify for Rs 200,000 through bank leasing and Rs 400,000 on self-finance.

Anjum also highlighted the broader impact. The initiative will cut fuel imports, saving up to USD 1 billion annually. It will also reduce 4.5 million tons of CO₂ emissions by 2030, improving air quality and lowering health-related costs from pollution.

He added that the scheme, aligned with NEVP 2025-30, will create more than 100,000 green jobs. It is also expected to boost local manufacturing and strengthen Pakistan’s industrial base.
