Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has said that he and his Galatasaray teammates want to make history in the UEFA Champions League after their famous 1-0 win against Liverpool on Tuesday night.

Osimhen scored the only goal of the match from the penalty spot at Rams Park, handing the Turkish champions a huge victory and earning himself the Man of the Match award.

Speaking after the game, Osimhen stressed that Galatasaray have the quality to go far in the competition.

“This is the biggest competition in the world, and we want to go far. We really have the quality to make sure that we achieve this objective,” he said.

“It’s not going to be easy, we have to take each game as it comes. We still have some games coming, and we will be ready. We’ll try to give our all to ensure that we make history with this club.”

Galatasaray, who lost 5-1 to Eintracht Frankfurt in their opening group game, now look set for a strong campaign. They still have six matches to play in the group stage, including tough clashes against Atletico Madrid and Manchester City.

The Turkish side have not gone beyond the quarter-finals of the Champions League in recent times, but with Osimhen in top form, hopes are high that this could be their season.
