Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen scored two goals on Saturday to help Galatasaray beat Sivasspor 4-1 at Rams Park in Istanbul.

Victor Osimhen has written his name into the history books as the first Nigerian player to score 10 goals in the UEFA Champions League.

The Super Eagles striker achieved the milestone on Tuesday night with a 16th-minute penalty for Galatasaray in their Group Stage clash against Liverpool in Istanbul. His record-breaking strike was enough for the Turkish champions to beat Liverpool 1-0.

Osimhen went into the match tied on nine goals with former Super Eagles forward Obafemi Martins, but his calm finish from the spot moved him clear at the top.

The encounter also carried historic significance for Liverpool star Mohamed Salah, who is just two goals away from becoming the first African player to reach 50 goals in the Champions League proper, excluding qualifiers.

Galatasaray have a strong record at home in Europe, losing only once in their last eight games in Istanbul against English opposition. However, they are winless in their last seven continental matches.

Liverpool, meanwhile, have struggled in Turkey, with just one win in six away European visits to the country. Yet the Reds remain formidable in the group stage, winning 13 of their last 14 matches.
