The Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) has approved the acquisition of majority shareholding in Euro Gas (Private) Limited by Singapore-based BBE D Pte. Limited, a subsidiary of BB Energy Group Holding Limited.

Euro Gas, incorporated in Pakistan in 2022, has not yet started commercial operations but plans to enter the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) sector subject to regulatory approvals. Under the agreement, BBE D will acquire majority ownership, while the sellers will retain minority shares.

CCP carried out a comprehensive review and determined that the acquisition does not raise competition concerns, as Euro Gas has not yet entered the LNG market. The transaction is unlikely to strengthen a dominant position in LNG imports and distribution.

The Commission highlighted that Euro Gas’s entry will enhance competition and diversify supply in a sector largely dominated by state-owned companies. CCP concluded that the deal will not substantially lessen competition, clearing the way for Euro Gas to pursue its LNG ambitions in Pakistan.
