Warri Wolves are preparing to appoint two-time NPFL title-winning coach Kennedy Boboye as their new head coach following the suspension of Coach Aluma Napoleon.[1]
In a press release dated 29 September 2025, the Delta State Sports Commission announced Napoleon’s suspension with immediate effect, citing poor performance since the club’s promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL). The statement, signed by Okonma Franka on behalf of the Executive Chairman, directed Napoleon to hand over responsibilities to Assistant Coach Jonny Austin, who will oversee the team for now.
Napoleon, a Delta-born coach, guided Warri Wolves to victory in the Nigeria National League last season, securing their long-awaited return to the top flight. However, the team has struggled since, recording two wins, one draw and three defeats in six games. Their latest result, a 1-2 loss to Shooting Stars on Sunday, triggered his suspension.

As reported by Caretaker News Now correspondent Purity Okon, the club had previously considered bringing in Boboye before the season, with Napoleon as his assistant. That plan was put aside at the time but is now being revived by the Delta State Sports Commission.
A club said that Boboye is the favourite to take charge, though Napoleon could stay on as assistant if he accepts the condition.
The decision has divided opinion in Delta State, with many locals arguing Napoleon deserves more time after achieving promotion.
Boboye, see who led Plateau United and Akwa United to NPFL titles, is currently without a job and has strong support from top officials in the Commission. While other candidates have expressed interest in the role, Boboye remains the first choice to take over at Warri Wolves.
