Browser maker and Google Search rival Brave has introduced a new upgrade to its AI-powered search suite, Ask Brave, which will now deliver detailed answers alongside its existing AI Answers feature. The update, announced on Monday, is designed to give users not just summaries but in-depth responses enriched with links, videos, news, and product information.

Brave first launched AI Answers last year, which quickly grew to more than 15 million daily responses. The new Ask Brave tool takes this further by offering report-style answers, chat follow-ups, and a “Deep Research” mode for more contextually relevant results. Users can trigger it by clicking the ask button in Brave Search, using the ask tab on the results page, or by adding “??” to their query if Brave is set as the default search engine.

Josep M. Pujol, Chief of Search at Brave, said the feature combines the strengths of search engines and large language models (LLMs), making it easier for users to find not only answers but also richer context. Importantly, Brave highlights its strong privacy stance, confirming that chats are encrypted and automatically deleted after 24 hours.

This update places Brave in direct competition with Google’s AI-enhanced search and emerging platforms like Perplexity, while appealing to users who want detailed, privacy-focused AI search experiences.
