The Sindh government has confirmed that its long-awaited Pink Taxi Scheme for Women will officially be launched in December 2025, Transport Minister Sharjeel Memon announced today.
This initiative, first hinted at last week by PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, comes as part of the province’s broader efforts to improve safe and affordable transport facilities for women. The announcement followed a Karachi ceremony where the government distributed electric Pink Scooters to female students and professionals to ease their daily commute.
Bilawal Bhutto, while handing over the scooter keys, emphasized that the Pink Taxi service will particularly benefit working women and students who often face travel challenges due to safety and mobility issues.
In addition to the transport scheme, the Sindh government has recently rolled out other welfare projects, such as the Benazir Hari Card, designed to financially support small farmers who suffered heavy flood.
Project | Launch/Details | Purpose |
Pink Taxi Scheme | December 2025 | Safe, women-only taxi service |
Pink Scooters | September 2025 (Distributed) | Mobility for students & working women |
Benazir Hari Card | Ongoing | Support for flood-affected farmers |
The Pink Taxi service is expected to not only empower women but also contribute to gender-inclusive urban development in Sindh.
