Miami Beach Commissioner Kristen Rosen Gonzalez’s campaign for Mayor and developer Brian Ehrlich’s bid to replace her in the City Commission’s Group 1 now both have support from the political arm of South Florida’s longest-serving LGBTQ rights group.

SAVE Action PAC[1], associated with Miami-based SAVE[2], confirmed it is backing both Rosen Gonzalez and Ehrlich in their respective races.

“Miami Beach has long been at the forefront of championing equality and inclusion,” said SAVE Executive Director Todd Delmay, who is running[3] to unseat Republican Rep. Hillary Cassel in House District 101.

“We are confident that Kristen Rosen Gonzalez, Brian Ehrlich, Laura Dominguez, and Alex Fernandez will continue that legacy of leadership, ensuring Miami Beach remains a city that stands for fairness, opportunity, and dignity for all.”

Miami Beach Commissioners Laura Dominguez and Alex Fernandez, who are running for re-election in Group 2 and Group 3, respectively, also have SAVE Action PAC endorsements.

Rosen Gonzalez, a tenured faculty member at Miami Dade College and a licensed Realtor, is a twice-elected City Commissioner and now the lone challenger to Mayor Steven Meiner.

Ehrlich is a real estate investor whose community involvements include serving on the Bass Museum’s Board of Trustees and Miami Beach’s Historic Preservation Board.

He is one of seven candidates running for the seat Rosen Gonzalez is vacating. Others include Daniel Ciraldo, Ava Frankel, Matthew Gultanoff, Omar Jimenez, Monica Matteo-Salinas and Monique Pardo Pope.

Ehrlich and Rosen Gonzalez are both Democrats, as are Dominguez and Fernandez.

“From housing affordability to climate resilience and safeguarding Miami Beach’s unique identity, our endorsed candidates understand the challenges facing the city and are ready to deliver solutions rooted in equity and accountability,” SAVE Advocacy and Communications Director Miles Davis said in a statement.

The Miami Beach Commission is a technically nonpartisan body, as are its elections.

The General Election is Nov. 4.
