WhatsApp is quietly expanding its AI push with a new beta update that introduces a smarter way to interact with messages. The latest iOS beta, version 25.26.10.71, adds an “Ask Meta AI” option, giving users direct access to Meta’s AI assistant without leaving the app.
The feature makes fact-checking and clarification easier than ever. Instead of switching to a browser and searching for terms you don’t understand, users can now tap “Ask Meta AI” in the message menu. This action opens a dedicated chat window with Meta AI, where the selected message appears as a reference.
Unlike standard forwarding, the content doesn’t go to Meta AI automatically. Users must add their own question or context before submitting, which keeps privacy in check and ensures the tool is used thoughtfully.
Meta initially introduced this shortcut on Android, and iOS users are now getting a similar experience. The design promotes active engagement, allowing people to clarify information, verify news headlines, or request deeper explanations without breaking the flow of conversation.
Requiring manual input before sharing content discourages mindless forwarding and encourages users to interact more critically with the information they receive. This approach not only streamlines fact-checking but also helps reduce the spread of misleading or confusing messages inside WhatsApp.
Currently, the update is rolling out to select beta testers, with wider availability expected in the coming weeks. Some users on the stable version may also see early access as part of Meta’s gradual rollout strategy.
