WhatsApp has released a new update in its beta version, bringing the app version to 25.26.10.71. This update introduces a new feature, Ask Meta AI, which allows users to directly question Meta AI about any chat message, meaning no need to leave the app and Google[1] terms you don’t understand.

With this update, a new “Ask Meta AI” option appears in the menu for incoming messages. When selected, it opens a chat window with Meta AI, where the chosen message is quoted as a reference. Unlike traditional message forwarding, the content is not sent automatically. Instead, users must provide additional context or questions for Meta AI before sending. This process encourages users to actively clarify, verify, or request further explanation on information they receive.

Here is what it will look like.

The content of the selected message remains invisible to Meta AI until the user chooses to submit it with added context to ensure privacy.

WhatsApp initially introduced this Meta AI shortcut on Android, and now brings a similar experience to iOS users. The feature aims to streamline fact-checking, support clarification, and promote proactive verification of potentially misleading or unclear information, all without interrupting the chat flow.

By requiring manual context before sharing content with Meta AI, the feature discourages passive forwarding and encourages thoughtful engagement. It offers a quicker and more convenient method for users to assess the reliability of messages, seek explanations, or verify news headlines.

The feature is currently available to select beta testers and will gradually reach more users in the coming weeks. Some users on the stable release may also gain early access as part of a gradual rollout.
