Apple is broadening the reach of its on-device AI with the rollout of iOS 26.1. The update introduces Apple Intelligence support for several new languages, giving more users access to its features. With this release, Danish, Dutch, Norwegian, Portuguese (Portugal), Swedish, Turkish, Chinese (Traditional), and Vietnamese are now officially included.
The company first announced plans to expand language support last year, and the new additions make Apple Intelligence far more global. Until now, the service was available in English (across multiple regions), Chinese (Simplified), French, Japanese, Spanish, German, Italian, Korean, and Portuguese (Brazil). With iOS 26.1, the list grows substantially.
Apple Intelligence now supports the following languages:
- English (U.S., Australia, Canada, New Zealand, U.K., South Africa, India, and Singapore)
- Chinese (Simplified and Traditional)
- French
- Japanese
- Spanish
- German
- Italian
- Korean
- Portuguese (Brazil and Portugal)
- Danish
- Dutch
- Norwegian
- Swedish
- Turkish
- Vietnamese
Alongside this expansion, iOS 26.1 improves AirPods Live Translation by adding Japanese, Korean, Italian, and Mandarin (Traditional and Simplified). This makes real-time communication across languages even smoother, especially for travelers and global teams.
The iOS 26.1 update is available to developers today, while Apple is expected to roll it out to public beta testers in the coming weeks.
