The government of Pakistan, through Ignite Pakistan, has launched the AI Wrapper Competition 2025[1] under the Digital Pakistan initiative. This national-level contest is designed to encourage AI-based solutions that address local challenges in key areas such as education, healthcare, governance, climate, and finance.

Aligned with the National AI Policy, the competition seeks to foster ethical and explainable AI while promoting a skilled workforce. Officials say the initiative will also support digital transformation across the public sector and boost Pakistan’s visibility on the global AI stage.

Building a Community of Innovators

The program aims to bring together over 500 AI fellows and generate at least 25 deployable prototypes. By encouraging young innovators, researchers, and entrepreneurs, the competition will create a pipeline of practical solutions. Participants are expected to present prototypes that can scale nationally and compete internationally.

Pathway to Global Standards

The competition will follow a structured evaluation process, starting with regional rounds in Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, Quetta, and Islamabad, before the grand finale in the capital. Solutions will be assessed for scalability, innovation, and compliance with ethical AI principles.

By leveraging cloud infrastructure, open datasets, and cross-sector collaboration, the initiative seeks to place Pakistan on the global AI map. Officials highlight that this effort not only promotes innovation but also reinforces a sustainable and inclusive digital ecosystem for the country.
