Ludema Anderson James, age 96, of Alma, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love and faith.
She was born on November 12, 1928, in Mulberry, Arkansas, to Clarence Peters and Esther (Williams) Bussell. Ludema graduated from Mulberry High School in 1947 and later worked for Gerber and Spaulding.
A woman of strong Baptist faith, she loved attending church and found great joy in her worship. Known for her green thumb, Ludema’s yard was always filled with beautiful flowers that she lovingly cared for.
Above all, she will be remembered as a devoted mother and grandmother who poured her heart into her family. Her family knew her as the best mother and grandmother; a woman who not only loved her family deeply but also touched the lives of everyone around her with kindness and grace.
Ludema is survived by her two children, Rita Sitton and husband Jerry of Mitchell, Indiana, and Debbie McAdoo and husband Jerry Don of Alma, Arkansas; her two grandchilren, Bryan McAdoo and Nathaniel Sitton and wife Brittany; and her three great-grandchildren, Myah, Alayna, and Grayson.
Ludema is preceded by her parents; her three husbands: D.C. James, Ben Kennedy, and R.D. Anderson; and her two brothers, Pete Peters and Arbath Peters.
The family would like to thank the staff of Heart of Hospice for their compassionate care during this time.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at New Cemetery in Mulberry, Arkansas. The officiant will be Sid Ree. Services under the care of Lewis Funeral Chapel.
