Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu and Cameroonian goalkeeper Andre Onana linked up for a brilliant goal in Trabzonspor’s 1-1 draw with Gaziantep on Saturday evening.
Onana, on loan from Manchester United, continued his fine form after last week’s Man-of-the-Match display. He produced a long, accurate pass from his own half which Onuachu controlled and finished superbly to give Trabzonspor the lead.
Onuachu has now scored three goals in six games since returning to Turkey. The 31-year-old had a successful loan spell with Trabzonspor in the 2023/24 season, scoring 17 goals, but struggled when he returned to Southampton, managing only four goals in 28 matches.
Back at Trabzonspor, Onuachu’s goals are proving vital as the club pushes for European qualification. His partnership with Onana’s precise distribution could become a key weapon for the team this season.
Despite their efforts, Trabzonspor could not hold on for the win, with Gaziantep equalising later in the match. Still, both Onuachu and Onana have quickly established themselves as important players for the Black Sea side.
