Pakistan’s Digital transformation is set for a major boost as the under-construction Islamabad IT Park nears completion. Backed by a $76.3 million concessional loan from South Korea, the project has reached 71% physical progress and is expected to be completed by December 2025. Once operational, it will generate around 10,000 jobs and provide space for 120 start-ups and SMEs.

This initiative is part of the government’s Digital Pakistan vision, aimed at promoting technology transfer, industry-academia linkages, research, and IT exports. The IT Park is also designed to international standards, showcasing growing global confidence in Pakistan’s tech sector.

Despite challenges such as heavy rains, import restrictions, and economic pressures, the project has stayed within budget. Along with the Karachi IT Park, it represents Pakistan’s growing partnership with South Korea in the tech industry. The Islamabad IT Park is expected to serve as a hub for innovation, employment, and IT exports, advancing Pakistan’s digital future.

“This project will not only create jobs but also establish Pakistan as a regional IT hub,” said an official from the Ministry of IT.

Do you think Pakistan’s IT parks will be able to attract global tech giants, or will they primarily serve local start-ups and SMEs?
