As work continues on a $25 million expansion of the Scott Family Amazeum[1] in Bentonville, it’s also updating existing exhibits such as the popular Walmart Market and Art Studio.

The Amazeum at 1009 Museum Way recently reopened the approximately 900-square-foot Walmart Market exhibit as part of a $500,000 investment.

Since the 50,000-square-foot Amazeum opened in July 2015, Walmart has supported the Market, where guests can experience a hands-on shopping environment. In July 2023, Walmart renewed its sponsorship of the Market for five years with a $500,000 grant, announced alongside a capital grant in fall 2023. The money will be spent on the Market through operations, prop and exhibit maintenance, and other renovation projects over the grant term.

Over the past year, the Amazeum’s exhibits team collaborated with Walmart’s marketing team to update the Market’s graphics and interactive elements. New features include branding and lettering, community murals, a bakery expansion, an updated deli and ice cream stand experience, bilingual signs, Walmart vests and a prop of a drone delivering a package.

“We are thrilled to continue our partnership with Walmart to keep the Market engaging, relevant and fun for our guests,” said Sam Dean, CEO of the Scott Family Amazeum. “The refreshed Market takes great new visuals and combines them with new opportunities for curiosity, connection and community. We’re grateful for Walmart’s long-standing support and shared commitment to inspiring the next generation through interactive learning.”

Dean said this won’t be the last exhibit update before the museum completes its expansion. The 34,740-square-foot project comprises an 11,850-square-foot The Hangout and Early Learning Advancement Center, a 17,390-square-foot porch and landscaping around the building, and a 5,500-square-foot outdoor nature exhibit. Construction started in June and is on track to be completed by late 2026.
