The Ministry of IT and Telecommunication has confirmed that Pakistan will be connected to three new submarine cables within the next 12 to 18 months. The announcement came during the National Assembly Standing Committee on IT, chaired by Syed Aminul Haque.
Officials stated that agreements have already been finalized to bring the three submarine cables to Pakistan. These new links are designed to strengthen the country’s internet infrastructure by directly connecting Pakistan to Europe, reducing reliance on limited existing routes.
IT Secretary Zarrar Hasham Khan emphasized that the upcoming submarine cable projects will significantly improve bandwidth capacity and ensure a more resilient internet service for users across the country.
Committee member Sadiq Memon questioned current internet issues, but the ministry assured him that the addition of these submarine cables will resolve long-term connectivity challenges.
