Nina Dobrev And Shaun White’s Shock Breakup Faces New Twist, As Sources Claim Having Kids Was Not An Issue

“They both wanted a family,” an insider informed US Weekly^[3]. “It wasn’t that one wanted it more than the other.”

Another insider echoed the same sentiments, telling the outlet that the actress “couldn’t wait to be married and to start a family with” the athlete.

Prior to their split, the former couple had been together for nearly five years, with one of those years spent engaged.

News of their breakup surfaced earlier this month, shocking fans who had anticipated wedding plans soon.

Shortly after, it was reported that Dobrev had previously appeared without her engagement ring on the red carpet for the premiere of Eternity at the Toronto Film Festival, which further confirmed the split.

Alongside speculation that Nina Dobrev and Shaun White may have disagreed about having children, rumors of infidelity also surfaced as a possible reason for their split.

In the wake of the split, those close to Dobrev shared insight about heer she was handling the situation.

One insider claimed the actress is “devastated” by the split, citing that Dobrev had already begun planning their nuptials.

The source also revealed that the “Vampire Diaries” star is being “supported by her closest girlfriends, who have been checking in on her” as she deals with the breakup.

As for White, he took to his own page to reflect on competing in the Beijing Winter Olympics in February 2022 after recently jetting back to the city to promote his winter sports tour, The Snow League.

The athlete also made a public appearance in the wake of the breakup, joining NBC’s Today earlier in the week to discuss the upcoming 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy.

“I’ll be running around, definitely supporting my friends competing and just taking it in,” he said about the event, which runs from February 6 to February 22, 2026. “This will be my first Winter Olympics where I’m not competing, so a lot of feelings there, but honestly, I’m excited to support and check it out.”
