A EuroMillions winner took a stroll on the day he remarried his ex-wife and something extraordinary happened. The bloke had previously won a million euros “a few years ago” in the MyMillion draw.[1]

Fast forward two years, “between the town hall ceremony and drinks reception” he decided to take his dog for a walk, shares Isabelle Césari, head of big winners at Française des Jeux (FDJ). It was then he remembered he had his MyMillions ticket in his pocket.

The chap decided to get it checked before returning to his wedding day. As it turns out, fortune smiled upon him again, and he discovered he had once more bagged another million euros.[2]

Isabelle elaborated: “He’d played EuroMillions, so he decided to have it checked, and he discovered that he’d won one million euros again, two years later.

“So, quite rightly, he set off with his wife on their honeymoon to Venice, and from Venice, facing the lagoon, he called us saying, ‘You’ll never guess – it’s me again, I’ve won again’

“And so, within the space of two years, this player, lucky both in games and in love, had won two million euros.”

The MyMillion code is an additional draw that each player is automatically entered into when they purchase a EuroMillions ticket. According to euro-millions.com there have been 4,317,099,029 EuroMillions winners since February 2004.

Around 29% of the people who have won have been based in France. While 22% of the winning tickets have come from the United Kingdom[3].

Both France and the UK have churned out an equal number of jackpot winners, 132, with Spain hot on their heels boasting 123 winners. Just last week, a lucky Spaniard bagged a whopping £56,681,384.00 jackpot.

The record-breaking EuroMillions jackpot was a staggering €371m (roughly £322m) in 2023, which was divvied up amongst 90 fortunate Italians. Earlier this year, an Irish player hit the big time, scooping a colossal €250m jackpot (approximately £217m).

The winners, a family syndicate who opted to keep their identities under wraps, insisted they still “planned to eat sandwiches for lunch”. One relative confided to the BBC[4]: “We’re planning to remain in Ireland, and we promised ourselves that we won’t let this win change us.”

Another chimed in: “I’ll still be having my favourite ham and cheese sambo for lunch every day. We’re absolutely going on a family holiday. We love to travel and there’s so many amazing trips we’ve always dreamed of that we can now make a reality.”

They decided to verify their ticket after noticing the jackpot had been claimed in Ireland. One family member confessed they “could not believe their eyes” when they realised they had “won big”.
