Vivo has officially launched two new smartphones in its Y-series, the Y31 5G and the Y31 Pro 5G. These models succeed the Vivo[1] Y29 and bring upgrades in performance, display quality, and battery capacity. Both devices target budget-conscious users looking for 5G connectivity and large batteries, with slight differences in build and features.
Design and Display
The Vivo Y31 5G comes with a 6.68-inch HD+ IPS LCD display, offering a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 1000 nits. It is available in Rose Red and Diamond Green color options. The Y31 Pro 5G features a slightly larger 6.72-inch display with a sharper FHD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate, along with 1050 nits of peak brightness. The Pro version is available in Mocha Brown and Dreamy White.
Despite the Y31 Pro 5G being the more premium variant, it features a lower IP64 ingress protection rating compared to the IP68/69 rating on the Y31 5G.
Internals and Software
Powering the Y31 5G is the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset, replacing the Dimensity 6300 used in the previous generation. It is offered in two configurations: 4GB RAM with 128GB storage, and 6GB RAM with 128GB storage. The Y31 Pro 5G is equipped with the more powerful Dimensity 7300 chipset, paired with 8GB of RAM and either 128GB or 256GB of storage. Both phones run Android 15 with OriginOS 15.
Cameras
The Y31 5G and Y31 Pro 5G share the same 50MP primary rear camera. The Y31 5G includes a 0.08MP auxiliary sensor, while the Y31 Pro 5G comes with a 2MP depth sensor. Both phones are equipped with an 8MP front camera for selfies.
Battery and Pricing
Each device is fitted with a 6,500 mAh battery that supports 44W fast charging.
The Vivo Y31 5G is priced at $170 for the 4GB/128GB variant and $187 for the 6GB/128GB version. The Y31 Pro 5G starts at $215 for the 8GB/128GB model, while the 8GB/256GB configuration is priced at $238.
