Sony has officially launched the PlayStation Family app for iOS and Android, giving parents better tools to manage their children’s gaming experience.
In a blog post, Sony highlighted that the PlayStation Family app offers customizable features such as adjusting playtime, viewing which games children are playing, and receiving detailed activity reports. The company said the release reflects its commitment to ensuring safe play for gamers of all ages.
While both PS5 and PS4 consoles already include parental controls for managing playtime and age restrictions, the new mobile app allows parents to handle these settings directly from their phones.
With the app, parents can set playtime limits, receive real-time notifications about active games, and approve or reject requests for extra gaming hours or access to restricted titles. The app also delivers daily and weekly reports with detailed insights into gaming activity.
Additionally, the PlayStation Family app lets parents manage spending on the PlayStation Store by setting monthly limits, adding funds, and tracking balances. It can also restrict children’s access to social features on PlayStation consoles.
