Islamabad Police have announced strict action against wrong-way driving, including the registration of FIRs, as part of new measures to improve traffic management in the federal capital. The decision came after a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Captain (R) Hamza Humayun at the Traffic Headquarters.

During the meeting, attended by SP Traffic Majid Iqbal and zonal DSPs, officials reviewed current arrangements and discussed strategies to ease congestion at major intersections and commercial hubs. CTO Hamza Humayun directed zonal officers to conduct staff audits, deploy personnel at high-traffic points, and ensure visible presence during rush hours.

He ordered strict action against violators, particularly those driving against traffic, with FIRs to be registered on the spot. The CTO also emphasized eliminating illegal parking in commercial centers that obstruct traffic flow. Daily performance reports from zonal officers have been made mandatory to ensure accountability.

The move highlights Islamabad Police’s increasing reliance on stricter enforcement to maintain road discipline, as the city continues to face rising vehicle pressure and traffic congestion. Regular anti-parking operations are also planned to restore order in busy business districts.
