Outrage and online conspiracy theories spread after a book about Charlie Kirk’s assassination was listed for sale on Amazon.
On Wednesday, social media users shared images of a book available on Amazon titled ‘The Shooting of Charlie Kirk[1]: A Comprehensive Account of the Utah[2] Valley University Attack, the Aftermath, and America’s Response.’
However, many irate users on X pointed out that the publication date listed on the retail giant’s website showed ‘September 9, 2025,’ the day before Kirk was fatally shot during his college campus speaking tour. [3]
The existence of the book and the bizarre date immediately set off wild speculation that the assassination was an orchestrated plot[4] against the conservative influencer.
Speaking with the Daily Mail, an Amazon spokesperson confirmed that the book was listed on September 10, noting that the publishing date was wrong due to a system error.
‘The title in question is no longer available for sale. Due to a technical issue, the date of publication that had been displayed for this title, while it was briefly listed, was incorrect, and we apologize for any confusion this may have caused,’ the spokesperson said.
They added that the 81-page book was actually published ‘late in the afternoon’ on September 10, the day Kirk was killed in Orem, Utah.
While the book was briefly available on Amazon, it was advertised as being written by Anastasia J Casey. However, the Daily Mail could not find any record of a published author by that name.

Several books appeared on Amazon this week promoting a detailed account of the Charlie Kirk assassination, with one having a publication date one day before the murder

Charlie Kirk, a conservative influencer, was shot dead on September 10 at the age of 31 while speaking at Utah Valley University
‘Call the FBI and ask the director and deputy Director Kash Patel and Dan Bongino to explain to you why Amazon posted or had a book published before the assassination of Charlie Kirk,’ one person wrote on X after seeing the images.
‘This book either had pre-knowledge of the event[5], since Charlie was murdered YESTERDAY, or this is a fake book that has no knowledge and no research,’ a shopper on Amazon wrote in the reviews before the book was removed on Thursday.
According to the book-selling website bookscouter[6], the only publication listed under that author’s name was The Shooting of Charlie Kirk.
This has led many on social media to speculate that the book was quickly written using artificial intelligence (AI) by someone using a fake name to profit from the murder.
‘These books are nearly 80-100 pages long. Paperback versions cost around $15-21. These books are clearly written by AI,’ one person on X declared.
Following the shooting, more books claiming to detail the assassination began to appear in Amazon’s bookstore.
However, the online retailer has apparently been taking down the suspicious listings, which can no longer be found in site searches.
‘We have content guidelines governing which books can be listed for sale, and we remove books that do not adhere to these guidelines,’ the spokesperson added in a statement Friday.

The book’s alleged author, Anastasia J Casey, did not have any other published works available for sale online

According to the company’s guidelines posted online[7], any material listed for sale that is determined to be ‘hate speech,’ ‘advocates terrorism,’ or is deemed ‘inappropriate or offensive’ can be removed by Amazon.
Currently, Amazon allows AI-generated content to be sold on its website, but it has clear rules to keep things fair for authors, sellers, and buyers.
Their main focus has been on disclosing whether something was ‘AI-generated,’ meaning the words and images in the book were created by an AI-based tool, or ‘AI-assisted,’ meaning a writer wrote the content by themselves and used AI to edit, refine, or check for errors.
Amazon did not comment on its AI policy or on updating its guidelines in the wake of Kirk’s death.
However, there have been multiple incidents documented in recent years of so-called ‘bad actors’ creating ‘scam books’ and selling them on Amazon.
Kirk was hit by a single bullet while speaking to a crowd at the public university in Orem on Wednesday afternoon.
The father of two, known for his fierce MAGA views and thrilling debates with college kids across the country, collapsed immediately after being hit by the gunfire and died shortly after.
On Friday, President Trump and federal officials revealed that a suspect, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, was in custody as the investigation into the assassination continues.
Law enforcement sources told the Daily Mail that Robinson was taken into custody as the alleged assassin who killed Kirk at a rally at Utah Valley University on Wednesday[8].

On Friday, President Trump and federal officials revealed that the suspected shooter, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, was in custody as the investigation into the assassination continues
The alleged killer confessed to his father, Matt, who owns a construction company, sources told the Daily Mail.
He reportedly told his father that he would rather kill himself than turn himself in, but was convinced to speak with a local youth minister who also worked with the US Marshals Service.
Robinson faces charges of aggravated murder, felony discharge of a firearm causing serious bodily injury and obstruction of justice, according to a probable cause affidavit obtained by NBC News. Authorities said at a press conference on Thursday night that Robinson will face the death penalty if convicted.
