A Lahore court today extended the remand of YouTuber and content creator Mudassir Hassan for four more days in his case, accusing him of promoting betting and gambling apps to his viewers.
According to First Information Report (FIR) No. 222/25, Hassan has been accused of using his social media channels, particularly YouTube, to promote betting and gambling apps, notably including the app “Quotex”. The FIR was lodged under multiple sections of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA-2016, as amended in 2025), as well as sections 294-B and 420 of the Pakistan Penal Code. During the arrest, authorities also seized Hassan’s mobile phone for forensic examination.
On 8 September 2025, the Judicial Magistrate of the District Court in Lahore approved a four-day physical remand, enabling investigators, primarily from the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), to continue questioning and gather further evidence.
This latest development comes amidst a broader crackdown by the NCCIA aimed at curbing illegal gambling promotions online. The agency has already taken action against other prominent content creators, such as Saad-ur-Rehman (known online as Ducky Bhai), whose remand has been extended multiple times in a similar case involving the promotion of gambling apps.
Authorities have said that the crackdown is part of an ongoing campaign targeting influencers who use their platforms to advertise illicit betting services. Officials stress that such promotions not only violate Pakistani law but also pose threats to financial security and social well-being, especially among young, impressionable audiences.
