World No. 1 Jannik Sinner reached the US Open semi-finals after another dominant performance, beating fellow Italian Lorenzo Musetti in straight sets.

The defending champion eased through 6-1, 6-4, 6-2 in just two hours, booking his fifth consecutive Grand Slam semi-final. He will now face Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime for a place in Sunday’s final.

Sinner has now won 26 straight matches on hard courts and is aiming for his fourth Grand Slam final of the year. At just 23, he has also become the youngest world No. 1 in history to reach four major semi-finals in a single season, joining legends Ivan Lendl, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic.

“It was a great performance, very solid,” Sinner said. “We know each other very well, being from the same country and playing Davis Cup together. But once the match starts, the friendship goes away. I started very well and that made the difference.”

Sinner’s powerful hitting set the tone from the start as he raced into a 5-0 lead in the opening set, leaving Musetti with little chance to respond. Although Musetti briefly threatened in the second set, the 23-year-old could not match Sinner’s intensity as the top seed wrapped up a routine win.

Sinner remains unbeaten against Italian opponents at Tour level, improving his record to 16-0, including three wins over Musetti.
