Rasmus Højlund is reportedly unhappy with Manchester United after the club signed striker Benjamin Šeško this summer.
According to The Athletic (via Metro), Højlund believes he is a better player than Šeško and had hoped to prove himself this season.
The Danish forward, who joined United from Atalanta in 2023 for £72 million, is now on loan at Napoli after struggling to meet expectations at Old Trafford.
Not Enough Time to Prove Himself
Højlund feels that he was not given enough time to show his quality before being sent out on loan.
In 95 appearances for United, the 22-year-old scored 26 goals and provided 6 assists.
Despite his efforts, United’s management chose to rebuild their attack this summer by signing players like Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Šeško.
Sesko Yet to Impress
Šeško, a Slovenian international, joined United from RB Leipzig for £66.3 million plus £7.4 million in add-ons.
So far, he has not scored in his first four games, and according to reports, Højlund has been left “heartbroken” by how things turned out.
The Athletic claims that Højlund believes he is better than Šeško and is frustrated that he wasn’t given more time to succeed at the club.
