Asisat Oshoala

Nigerian football star Asisat Oshoala is close to making another big move in her career, as she prepares to join Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal from Bay FC in the USA.

According to The Athletic, the Super Falcons striker completed her medical in Riyadh on Monday, and both clubs have agreed on a transfer fee ahead of the Saudi Women’s Premier League deadline.

A Historic Move

The transfer will make Oshoala one of the most famous African players in the growing Saudi women’s football league.

The 30-year-old forward joined Bay FC just over a year ago, scoring 8 goals in 38 matches. However, she has played less often this season as the American club struggled near the bottom of the table.

  • Rita Chikwelu (Al-Riyadh)

A Remarkable Career

Oshoala’s career has taken her across four continents. Before moving to the USA, she was a star at Barcelona, scoring 107 goals in 149 games, winning five league titles and two UEFA Women’s Champions League trophies.

She also played in:

For Nigeria, she has won the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations four times, most recently in 2024, and holds a record six African Women’s Footballer of the Year awards.

What’s Next?

Once the transfer is officially completed, Oshoala will join Al Hilal, who finished sixth in the league last season. The Riyadh-based club is hoping her experience and goal-scoring ability will help them climb the table.

It’s another exciting step in the career of one of Africa’s greatest footballers.
