Super Eagles forward Tolu Arokodare has completed a big transfer to the English Premier League, joining Wolverhampton Wanderers from Belgian side KRC Genk.

The 24-year-old striker arrives in England after an excellent 2024/25 season in Belgium, where he scored 23 goals and made seven assists. His performances earned him the Ebony Shoe Award for the best African player in Belgium. Interest came from clubs in Italy, Spain and England, but Wolves secured his signature after missing out on compatriot Christantus Uche.

Arokodare signed a four-year contract, with an option for an extra year, after agreeing personal terms and passing his medical on Sunday. The deal is worth an initial £22.5 million, plus about £865,000 in add-ons, making him one of Wolves’ most expensive signings ever.

At 6ft 6in, the Nigerian brings height, strength and proven goal-scoring ability. He has previously played for Valmiera in Latvia, FC Köln in Germany, Amiens in France and Genk in Belgium. The Premier League will now be the biggest stage of his career.

Wolves see Arokodare as a possible replacement for Jørgen Strand Larsen, who has asked to leave Molineux. If Larsen departs, Arokodare will add quality and depth to Victor Pereira’s attack.

Speaking after signing, Arokodare said:

“It feels amazing. It took a while, but I’m finally here and I’m happy. I didn’t need convincing. I know the history of the club and the players who have improved here. I want the same for myself – to progress, improve and help the team. Looking at the strikers we have now, we are similar in style, so adapting won’t be difficult. You could see how good Larsen was last season, and I just want to help the team.”

Arokodare also becomes the seventh Nigerian to play for Wolves, following Ade Akinbiyi, George Ndah, Isaac Okoronkwo, Bright Enobakhare, Seyi Olofinjana and club legend Carl Ikeme.

With his power, height and finishing skills, Wolves fans will be eager to see how quickly the Super Eagles striker settles into the Premier League.
